Dr Qianqian Li

Qianqian Li is a lecturer in Composites in the Aeronautics Department at Imperial College London since 2013.  She received her PhD in Material Science and Engineering at the University of Edinburgh in 2007. She then did her post-doc at the University of Erlangen in Germany and was leading the research in the area of nanoparticle reinforced light metal composites.

Qianqian’s current research area lies in lightweight structural materials including lightweight metal composites and polymer composites reinforced by nanoparticles. The motivation is to develop advanced lightweight composites with improved mechanical and physical properties for applications in e.g. aeronautics and automotive, to fulfill the demand for lower CO2 emission. She is also working on producing functionalised CNTs and CNT veil reinforced polymer composites. She has experience in metal additive manufacturing (AM) and is expanding her research to produce lightweight composites by AM.
